Mike Tyson is one of the most extraordinary heavyweight boxing talents in history. He became the youngest heavyweight champion at the age of 20. Cus D’Amato is a legendary boxing coach that helped Tyson develop his dangerous fighting style. Most people fail to realize that Cus trained a teenage Mike Tyson like he was an adult male. At one point, he even made Tyson box professional boxer Jimmy Clark in a sparring bout.

Jimmy Clark had a professional record of 18 wins and one loss at that time during the sparring bout. However, the experience did not matter as a teenage Mike Tyson went toe to toe with Clark. In the background, Cus advised Tyson on head and hand movements. The skill level of Tyson at 17 years old proves that there has never been another boxing talent like him in the history of boxing.

Cus D’Amato had an extensive background in the sport of boxing. Cus coached Hall of Fame boxers like Floyd Patterson and Jose Torres to winning a championship. In the later stages of Cus’s life, he met Tyson. He became Tyson’s legal guardian after the legendary boxer’s mother died. After that, he trained Tyson in the peek-a-boo boxing style to become the youngest heavyweight champion in history.

Tyson’s ability to head-to-head with a trained professional like Clark is something most teenagers could not do. Cus always pushed Tyson to expand his limits and instill a championship mindset while training. Unfortunately, Cus died a year before Tyson won the heavyweight title. However, his legacy remains forever.

Raphouse TV on Twitter tweeted about a story of Mike Tyson from back in the day. They wrote, “Mike Tyson once offered a zookeeper $10,000 to open the gate so he could go in the pen and fight the gorilla who has bullying the other primates.Tyson’s offer was turned down.“

A gorilla is a tough being that is immensely strong. Can the gorilla withstand the amazing knockout power of Tyson? Probably. However, the fight never materialized due to the combat’s illegal nature involving animal cruelty.
