Enigmatic Canadian singer The Weeknd once vowed to never cut his trademark dreadlocks off. Then he did, because "the vision wasn't there anymore", and loved it. 

"It was the greatest feeling of all time [cutting it off]. It was so good. I could sleep better, I felt lighter, and when I perform, I perform better and feel better, it’s cool," he told Zane Lowe, who was interested. "The best part about all of it, I get to wear f***ing hats again."

Subsequently, The Weeknd gave the dreads to his manager, who keeps them in a safe. Then he probably bought a lot of hats.
