Either you’ve been following the years-long saga of Nick Loeb or you haven’t. There is no in-between! And there have been so many twists and turns over the years, it’s insane that we’re still talking about a breakup that happened four years ago. That was when Nick Loeb and Sofia Vergara ended their engagement and relationship, back in 2014. They had been off-and-on for a few years, but finally they were off for good. During the time when they were together, had embryos created using her egg and his sperm, to be implanted into a gestational carrier. Apparently, they tried the gestational carrier once and the pregnancy didn’t take. Then Nick and Sofia broke up, and then Nick sued Sofia for “custody” of the remaining embryos – two fertilized eggs which are currently frozen. The lawsuit has been going on for three years. Loeb keeps re-filing in different courts when the lawsuit gets thrown out. He’s working with some kind of radical anti-choice outfit now too, and the argument he’s making is that the embryos have a “right to life.”

In the past three years, Sofia has happily moved on. She married Joe Manganiello and she’s working in movies and she has a lot of side-projects. She and her lawyers keep getting dragged into court with this bullsh-t though, and it reeks of emotional abuse on Loeb’s side. He’s trying to “punish” her for moving on and he’s going through the court system to do it. Well, here’s an update on the whole thing, courtesy of Page Six:

Nick Loeb just won’t give up in his battle against ex-fiancée Sofía Vergara over their frozen embryos. Among endless legal twists, in March Loeb filed a new suit in Louisiana that Vergara says should be tossed since the case has no connection to the state. But Loeb’s lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, told Page Six that Loeb’s now moved to the Bayou state.

“My client … has triumphantly embarked on a historic path to succeed” he said, adding that Loeb “seeks full custody of their embryos” — named Emma and Isabella in legal papers. Heller said that under Louisiana law: “Loeb alleges the embryos are living children and that he should be granted full custody because Vergara is violating her high duty of care and prudent administration owed to them by refusing to allow them to have the chance to be born.”

Reps for Vergara had no comment. But those close to the star feel Loeb’s pursuing the case to punish her after their 2014 split. She’s married to Joe Manganiello. A source shared a photo with Page Six of a ramshackle address outside New Orleans that Loeb, son of a former US ambassador, is allegedly using as a residence.

Heller responded, “Nick has no animosity toward [Vergara] but is passionate about bringing to life Isabella and Emma. This is why he facilitated a trust for them, and is vigorously and successfully litigating this matter.” He had no comment on the alleged address.

This is sad. This is creepy. This is abusive. I don’t understand what he’s even trying to prove at this point – Sofia explained her side very well at the time of his initial lawsuit. Her side is that they would both have to agree to implantation and that they both have legal rights. She couldn’t implant the embryos without his say-so, and vice versa. Why is he so hung up on these embryos? Why this multi-year legal effort? It’s awful.
