According to her, the decision was made because the teenager's hair was badly damaged. Although Kandi is currently married to Todd Tucker, the birth of her daughter was as a result of her short-lived relationship with Russell Spencer back in the '90s.
While the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star had no intention of sharing details about her relationship with Spencer on national TV, their relationship eventually came into focus. In 2016, Russell made a shocking appearance on the ninth season of "Real Housewives of Atlanta."
Speaking about it, Kandi explained, "It was just kind of shocking to me that he decided to come on the show because I'm like, You want us to put our personal business on TV?" The singer further disclosed that even though they had a child together, the music mogul had never been involved in parenting their child.
She explained that Spencer would reach out to Riley for a while, after which he would disappear for an even more extended period. This resulted in the father-daughter duo having a strained relationship over the years.
Speaking about the earliest days of their relationship, the 43-year-old revealed that she met Russel at a car dealership where they exchanged numbers. Kandi further explained that their relationship didn't last for long due to infidelity on Spencer's part. She said,
"I found out he was still in a relationship with his other kids' mom, so I ended our relationship, but I was already pregnant with Riley."
The singer has since moved on with her marriage to Todd Tucker in 2014. The couple met on the set of "Real Housewives of Atlanta." At the time, Tucker was working as a producer for the show.
Apart from Riley, Burruss also has two other children; Ace and Blaze from her marriage to her current husband, Todd Tucker. Kandi is also a stepmother to Tucker's first daughter, Kaela.
The couple welcomed their last child, Blaze, last November via surrogate. The journey of their surrogacy was documented on season 12 of "Real Housewives of Atlanta."
Although Todd and Kandi were previously informed that they were expecting twins, they eventually lost one of the embryos.
