Josh Thomas is an Australian comedian, actor, and writer who had come into the spotlight in 2005 when he had won the Melbourne International Comedy Festival‘s ‘RAW Comedy Award’. Aged just 17 at that time, he was then the youngest winner of the award. Later that year, he had reached the finals of So You Think You’re Funny, an annual stand-up comedy competition for new acts at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world’s largest arts festival. He has gone on to tour his live shows throughout the world including cities such as Melbourne, Adelaide, Edinburgh, and Brisbane.   • After his surprise win at the 2005 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Josh was selected to perform at The Comedy Zone in 2006, a showcase of Australia’s most promising comedians organized annually by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
  • The following year, he had debuted his first solo show titled Please Like Me at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, winning the Melbourne Airport Award in the category of ‘Best Newcomer’. A few years later, he had given the same name to the comedy-drama TV series Please Like Me (2013-2016) that he had created.
  • That TV show was nominated for an International Emmy Award in the category of ‘Best Comedy Series’ in 2014. On an individual level, for his work on the series, he has won several awards which include an AACTA (Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts) Award in the category of ‘Best Television Screenplay’ in 2015.
