If you’re looking for a new alternative band to take over your music playlist, then look no further than Dirty Heads, a five-piece band from Huntington Beach, California.
Made up of Jared Watson (vocals), Dustin ‘Duddy B’ Bushnell (vocals/guitar), Jon Olazabal (percussion), Matt Ochoa (drums) and David Foral (bass), the band formed in 2003. In 2008, they released their debut album Any Port In A Storm, which features the RIAA certified gold track ‘Lay Me Down’, which also spent 11 weeks at number one on the Billboard alternative chart. Most recently, their album Sound of Change debuted at number eight in the Billboard Top 200 chart.
The band have been creating huge waves across the US for a number of years, however, they are now ready to take on the rest of the world with their infectious rock/hip-hop/reggae/pop fused sound.
One of their latest offerings ‘That’s All I Need’ has been described by Billboard as a “hooky, feel-good affair” and we couldn’t agree more. The track has a cool vibe which makes you want to reminisce over the summer. Produced by Justin Gray (Mariah Carey, Joss Stone), ‘That’s All I Need’ has over 1.5 million views on YouTube.
Of the track, Duddy said: “‘That’s All I Need’ just has a good feel to it, kind of hanging out with your friends in the neighborhood on a Sunday in the summer back when you were growing up. Everyone’s got that good memory, so that’s where we started aiming for. Let’s make this feel-good summer song that people can put on in the backyard with their friends and family.”
Dirty Heads are already starting to impact in the UK. The music video for ‘That’s All I Need’ was recently shown on Sunday Brunch, and the band have already sold out a headline show in London. Vocalist Jared said: “It’s crazy to think about the journey we’ve been on so far and it’s so cool we finally get to show the UK what Dirty Heads are all about!”
With their global fanbase growing at a fast pace (including almost half a million followers on Facebook), we hope to hear more from Dirty Heads soon, as their music makes its way across the world.
