A man has been taken to hospital after a siege that locked down a quiet suburban street on the Gold Coast for several hours ended peacefully.
Queensland Police negotiated with the man locked inside on the Gold Coast, before he was taken to hospital just after 4.30pm.
The major police operation began when officers swarmed a Marbella Drive home in Benowa Waters about 2pm
Heavily-armed officers were on the scene, as negotiators work with the man, believed to be in his 30s.
Gold Coast police district duty officer Senior Sergeant Robert Dusha said police had originally believed the man was armed.
“At this point in time, we are yet to locate any weapon,” he said.
“We had a peaceful outcome ... we negotiated our way through a potentially volatile situation.”
The man reportedly made threats when police attended.
Queensland Ambulance were also on the scene. He has been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital as a precaution.
