Australian musician Amy Shark has been forced to pull the pin on her upcoming tour after being hospitalised with an unknown illness.
The singer, 37, told fans on Instagram she’d experienced discomfort over the past few days, before seeking medical help and being told she needed to undergo surgery.
“I am choosing to keep the details private but I’m all good,” Shark wrote.
“I will need a month to recover, meaning I have to cancel the North American tour next month.
“I’m so sad right now. I’m very sorry but I need to focus on my health for a month.”
Shark added she promises to be back onstage as soon as she’s recovered.
The Australian Idol judge, who won her first Logie last month for Best New Talent, was slated to perform 13 shows across North America in September, with stops in Washington, New York, Chicago and Canada.
Celebrities and fans alike flooded the comments section of Shark’s post, sending her well wishes as she prepares to undergo surgery.
“Sending you love Amy,” Australian actress Rebel Wilson wrote.
SAS Australia star Ant Middleton said, “Help yourself in order to help others with the positivity & inspiration you give! Stay strong.”
Jessica Origliasso of The Veronicas added, “Sending love babe”, while Daniel Johns of Silverchair fame said, “Sending you all the love Amy!”
The Gold Coast-born singer recently released her new song Can I Shower At Yours, which she performed at the Logie Awards in Sydney in July.
After years of playing gigs in her home town, Shark experienced a meteoric rise following the release of her 2016 song Adore.
